On August 28, more than a week before the rentrée, the SUD education union filed notification for a strike action (préavis de grève) sometime during the first week of school.
The unspecified strike action is a standard French education tradition.
The SED education préavis de grève (as the official document is called) notes that the actual cause for the strike has not yet been narrowed down yet. Potential reasons for the future strike include:
- protest for jobs eliminated
- protest against the university autonomy law passed last year
- protest against the change in the status of researcher-teachers
- protest against the "masterisation" process for recruiting teachers
- protest against worsening work conditions
- protest against the Pochard and Attali reports
- protest against flexibility
- protest against....
You get the idea.
